This project has two major components. The first and foremost component is to produce an anthology with five volumes by selecting texts that may be related to various problems discussed in contemporary philosophy of religion. Each volume will focus on a broader topic and will include two major problems included under its broader topic. The topics and problems addressed in each volume are as follows:
I. Conception of Religion
- Religion and Reason
- Religion and Ethics
II. Religious Knowledge and Religious Authority
- Religious Experience and Religious Knowledge
- Miracles (Muʿjiza and Karāma)
III. Existence of God and God’s Relation to the Universe
- Arguments for the Existence of God
- God’s Relation to the Universe
IV. Religious Language
- Understanding the Scripture
- Theological Language and Divine Properties
V. Religious Diversity and Conception of Salvation
- Religious Diversity
- Life after Death
The second component of the project is organization of a conference. In the conference we hope to have opportunity to discuss ideas of medieval Muslim scholars in relation to discussions in contemporary philosophy of religion.
